Three nominations, one mission: giffgaff broadband shortlisted for three UK Fibre Awards
When we launched giffgaff broadband back in September 2025, we had a pretty clear mission. We wanted to do for fibre what we did for mobile all the way back in 2009: rip up the rulebook of an industry that, let's be honest, had stopped working for the people using it.
No sneaky mid-contract price hikes. No trapping people into contracts that don’t fit their lives. Just flexible, straightforward, reliable broadband - shaped by the people who actually use it. You lot.
Fast forward just a few short months, and we’ve got some pretty mega news. giffgaff broadband has been shortlisted in three brilliant categories at the UK Fibre Awards:
Best Customer Experience
Best Sustainability Programme
Best Overall Fibre Provider of the Year
That’s three nods across three completely different parts of our business, all in our very first year of broadband. Not too shabby, eh?
Moving fast, keeping it fair
We haven’t exactly been sitting on our hands since launch. We’ve added 24-month plans alongside our monthly rolling option, rolled out our coverage to every single region of the UK, and got our nature restoration project off the ground.
Through every single step, our members have been right there with us - testing things out, giving us feedback, and pushing us to be better. In fact, 9 in 10 trialists said they’d recommend giffgaff broadband to a mate.* Hearing that from you means the absolute world to us. Getting a pat on the back from the industry on top of it? Well, that’s just the icing on the cake. Here’s a little look at what we’re up for, and why each one matters.
Best Customer Experience
Home broadband is high-stakes. When the Wi-Fi drops, life kind of stops. So, we built our support to match. By combining the technical muscle of the VMO2 network with our very own brilliant, onshore support team, we’ve created something rare in the broadband world: an experience people actually like.
In Q1 2026, we hit a 90% member satisfaction score. It’s proof that a community-first, digital-focused model can go toe-to-toe with the traditional big providers and win.
We didn't just copy and paste our mobile support, either. We tailored it for the home. Think faster chat-based fixes for when you need internet right now, proactive updates to turn installation waiting times into positive moments, and dedicated help for members facing financial hardship. Because we firmly believe that staying connected should be a right, not a privilege.
Best Sustainability Programme
We don't think broadband should just connect the world — we think it should give back to it, too. That’s why we’ve invested £250,000 to restore 8 hectares of peatland in the Peak District National Park. No vague, airy promises here; just real, tangible action.
In March 2026, alongside our partners at Ecologi and Moors for the Future, we got our hands dirty and planted 3,500 sphagnum moss plugs at our site. This little superplant is a bit of a hero: it locks away carbon, holds 20 times its own weight in water (which helps protect the Peaks from fire and downstream towns from flooding), and welcomes local wildlife back home.
The best part? Our members, community, and staff helped design the whole project and even came along to volunteer on the ground. Legends.
Best Overall Fibre Provider of the Year
This is the big one. It gets right to the heart of what we set out to achieve. giffgaff hasn’t just entered the broadband market; we’ve come in to challenge how unfair it usually is.
We worked hand-in-hand with 500 trialists who gave us non-stop feedback while we built the product. We launched with the freedom for members to change their speeds every single month. And we’ve frozen prices on our monthly rolling plans, while promising absolutely zero mid-contract price rises on our 24-month plans.
Going from a small regional launch in September 2025 to full UK coverage by January 2026 was a whirlwind. But we’ve kept our ‘mutual giving’ spirit running through everything. Simple, flexible, and fair. Just as full-fibre broadband should be.
Cheers to you
Whichever way the awards go on the night, we’ve already won the biggest prize: building something genuinely different, together with you.
To every single member, trialist, and teammate who helped us get here - a massive, heartfelt thank you.
Now, cross your fingers for us.
